Thanks to a generous donation from our friend (and world renowned luthier) Bob Smakula of Smakula Fretted Instruments\, we’re selling raffle tickets for this beautiful fretless banjo. The instrument is part of our upcoming heritage arts exhibit\, “Appalachian Craftsmanship\,” which connect heritage arts with contemporary makers. \nThe show will be on display from August 29 – November 18\, 2026. Raffle drawing is November 20th. Tickets are on sale at the BHC front desk or online at THIS LINK now through mid-November. \n  \n1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. \n  \nWe prefer that the winner to pick up the banjo from the Beverly Heritage Center\, but we are willing to ship it at no additional cost to the contiguous 48 states. This new art exhibit highlights the history of utilitarian artforms in Randolph County\, WV\, and connects these elements of the past with current local makers. Explore the evolving story of Appalachian craftsmanship across decades of change by diving into the region’s relationship with hand\, material\, and place. Featuring ceramics\, lutherie\, textiles\, and smithing. The exhibit will be on display from August 29-November 18\, 2026. Opening reception with artist talks and light refreshments is Saturday\, August 29th from 3-5 PM. Live music with Fair Play to follow starting at 5:30 PM outside on the lawn. FREE.
