DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n \n  \nFundraiser Alert! Thanks to a generous donation from our friend (and world renowned luthier) Bob Smakula of Smakula Fretted Instruments\, we’re selling raffle tickets for this beautiful fretless banjo. The instrument is part of our upcoming heritage arts exhibit\, “Appalachian Craftsmanship\,” which connect heritage arts with contemporary makers. \nThe show will be on display from August 29 – November 18\, 2026. Raffle drawing is November 20th. Tickets are on sale at the BHC front desk or online at THIS LINK now through mid-November. \n  \n1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. \n  \nWe prefer that the winner to pick up the banjo from the Beverly Heritage Center\, but we are willing to ship it at no additional cost to the contiguous 48 states. A big thank you to Bob for that\, too! \nAnyone outside of the contiguous 48 states is responsible for their own shipping costs. \nCall us at 304-637-7424 for more info.

SUMMARY:Soft Opening: Lander's Rock Trail and "Faces of Civil War Nurses"
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n \nOn October 3rd\, join us on top of Rich Mountain during peak leaf!\nAt 10:30am\, the Rich Mountain Battlefield Foundation will host a ribbon cutting for the new Lander’s Rock Trail that leads to the iconic rock where U.S Col. Lander admonished the Confederates he was about to engage in Battle.\n\n“Bang away you Scoundrels! We’ll come down there and lick you like the devil directly.”\n\nAfter the ribbon-cutting\, come on down the mountain to the Beverly Heritage Center.\n\nJoin us at noon for the soft opening of “Faces of Civil War Nurses\,” an exhibit on loan from the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. The exhibit will be on display until late January 2027.\n\nThis exhibit features nurses who served all over the country\, and we are excited for these stories to visit Beverly\, where many medical professionals\, including local Laura Jackson Arnold\, served the wounded after the Battle of Rich Mountain on July 11\, 1861.
