A Window to Love Letters from the Past.” Words of Love is the newest exhibit in our Women’s Window\, featuring love letters\, poems\, dance photos and more from Beverly and all across Randolph County.\n\n\nFree to all\, we will serve hot cocoa and homemade cookies in the Heritage Center gallery. Additionally\, we will have paper and letter-writing materials for guests to craft their own love letters–who will you write to?\n\n\nThis window exhibit is visible from the outside of the building\, facing Court St.\, so dress according to the Wild & Wonderful weather we’ve been having.\n\nCan’t wait to see you there!\n\nThis exhibit is made possible through financial support of the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area.

DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCome on down to the backyard of the Logan House as we uncover history! \nThanks to a state grant\, the Beverly Landmarks Commission and the Rich Mountain Battlefield Foundation have hired AllStar Ecology\, a natural and cultural resources management firm to conduct a Phase I excavation on the Logan House property located at 831 Main Street in Beverly\, Randolph County\, West Virginia. \nFrom 9am to 4pm on Monday\, October 14\, the public is invited to visit and learn more about the history of this property as it sits within many thousands of years of human occupation. From its proximity to the historical Seneca Trail\, part of the deep network of trails engineered by Native communities in this area\, to its use as a hospital after the Battle of Rich Mountain in summer 1861\, this land has witnessed a lot! Join us as we uncover materials that might shed more light onto our rich and complex past. \nJust down the street from the Beverly Heritage Center\, we welcome visitors to park at the Center and walk the short distance along Walnut Street.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in October for our historic Beverly Lantern Tours! Our host\, Karl\, takes us on a nighttime walking tour of Beverly with only the light of lanterns to guide our way. Hear the spooky and mysterious side of Beverly – including some tales from local history and legend. \nTours 7pm on October 13\, 14\, 20\, 21 (limited spots per tour\, so we recommend purchasing tickets in advance) \nWe ask guests to check in at the Beverly Heritage Center prior to 7 PM\, and dress appropriately for the weather and temperatures past sundown. \nPurchase tickets at the link below. $10 per ticket \n

DESCRIPTION:Beverly Heritage Day: The Circus Comes to Town!\n \nDowntown Beverly will come alive with the people\, sights\, and sounds of our historic past as our annual timeline heritage event returns Saturday\, July 22nd. Come interact with Living History camps representing 18th\, 19th\, and 20th century eras with reenactors\, demonstrations\, presentations\, displays\, and more. Join us for a Parade of History\, children’s activities and games\, food\, live music\, and a circus sideshow performance including fire dancing and juggling! \nOut of the Ashes Fire and Flow Arts will provide performances at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Beverly Town Square. Their skilled fire and juggling acts are reminiscent of vintage side-show acts that may have traveled to rural towns in the late 19th or early 20th century. They will also be available to interact with visitors throughout the day. \nCarnival activities will include Sam Winkler as a “snake oil salesman” promoting late 19 th century patent medicine. Visitors can participate in vintage lawn and carnival games\, as well as craft activities for children and adults such as paper making and sewing crafts. Sketch artist J.R. Earle will be selling custom drawn caricatures. \nThe Parade of History at 10 a.m. will introduce the circus performers and living history characters. Activities and living history camps will be open through the day with music\, tours\, and food at scheduled times. A rarely seen collection of original 19th century art related to West Virginia and the First Campaign will be featured at the Civil War Art Show in the historic Laura Jackson Arnold house. The Arnold House\, home of Stonewall Jackson’s sister\, will be open for tours\, with old-time music and ice-cream. \nCannon demonstrations will join the activities for Beverly Heritage Day this Saturday. McClanahan’s Battery will provide firing demonstrations with their mountain howitzer and 4 pounder cannon around 10:45\, 12:30\, and 2:45 in the living history camp behind the 1841 Jail in Beverly. \n \nReenactors\nReenactors and heritage demonstrators are invited to attend. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Heritage Center for a walking tour that covers the historically underrrepresented African American stories of Beverly and greater Randolph County. Adam Ockers\, who designed our African-American History of Randolph County exhibit\, will take visitors to a series of sites in Beverly significant to this history in our area. The tour will begin at the Heritage Center\, meeting at 12:00 PM\, and will last about an hour\, comfortable shoes  and weather appropriate clothing are encouraged as a majority of this tour will be outdoors.
