Rich Mountain Battle Commemoration

July 11 @ 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Meet us at the Battlefield for a full day commemorating the Battle of Rich Mountain! From stories to supper, this is a day to remember.
At 2:30pm, join local historian Hunter Lesser and RMBF President Richard Wolfe on top of Rich Mountain at the Hart homestead, where the battle took place. On this walking tour, hear the stories of the battle while standing where soldiers stood 165 years before.
At 4pm, meet at Field of Fire Pavilion, in Mabie, WV, below the Battlefield for the ribbon cutting to mark the reopening of the Camp Garnett trail! RMBF Battlefield Coordinator Jesse will lead the trail walk to show his work restoring the trail this spring.
At 5pm, return to the Field of Fire for a delicious smoked pork dinner! Sandwiches and a picnic spread are available to enjoy with the whole family! $12 at the door, $10 in advance. The proceeds will help support ongoing battlefield preservation!
At 5:30-7:30, Andy Fitzgibbon, Rory Mullennex, and Tom Hoffman will take the stage to play some old time tunes and wrap up the commemoration day.
Music and tours are free and open to the public!

Field of Fire Pavilion is located at the intersection of Mabie Road and Rich Mountain Road on the western side of the battlefield.
