Soft Opening: Lander’s Rock Trail and “Faces of Civil War Nurses”
October 3 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

On October 3rd, join us on top of Rich Mountain during peak leaf!
At 10:30am, the Rich Mountain Battlefield Foundation will host a ribbon cutting for the new Lander’s Rock Trail that leads to the iconic rock where U.S Col. Lander admonished the Confederates he was about to engage in Battle.
“Bang away you Scoundrels! We’ll come down there and lick you like the devil directly.”
After the ribbon-cutting, come on down the mountain to the Beverly Heritage Center.
Join us at noon for the soft opening of “Faces of Civil War Nurses,” an exhibit on loan from the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. The exhibit will be on display until late January 2027.
This exhibit features nurses who served all over the country, and we are excited for these stories to visit Beverly, where many medical professionals, including local Laura Jackson Arnold, served the wounded after the Battle of Rich Mountain on July 11, 1861.
